SOUND AND FURY

Sound and Fury was a meditation of sound. Making marks as a reaction to the noise I was hearing, music coming from a neighboring studio, footsteps, doors opening, car alarms, anything that had an audio presence over a span of four hours. I was surprised to open my eyes and find this product.

SPOON & SPRIG STUDIO NOTES ON MEDITATION DRAWINGS
These meditative drawings began as a short exercise in one of my drawing classes, but I soon realized that when I drew with my eyes closed I could connect to myself and the paper in a way I could not achieve before. During meditation, I let my thoughts melt away - even in the most expressive moments creating is a mental exercise, but that changed when I detached myself from the visual aspect. I was creating through other senses. I abandoned my sight and began understanding the marks I was making as sounds, feelings, and smells, rather then shapes and textures. It allowed me to create fully with abandon and without any editing or remedies, just pure feeling and reaction.
